Pinpoint Test D: The One-Touch Down Feature is Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagrams Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Electrical Diagrams
Normal Operation
When the LH window control switch is moved to the DOWN position, voltage is supplied to the one-touch down relay coil. The one-touch down relay is switched from ground contact to voltage contact providing voltage to the LH window motor while ground is provided through the LH window control switch. When the LH window control switch is moved to the UP position, voltage is supplied to the LH window motor while ground is supplied through the one-touch down relay switch which is in the rest (grounded) position.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- One-touch down relay
PINPOINT TEST D : THE ONE-TOUCH DOWN FEATURE IS INOPERATIVE
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
D1 CHECK THE ONE-TOUCH DOWN RELAY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: One-Touch Down Relay C546.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between one-touch down relay C546-2, circuit 15-AJ15 (GN/BK), harness side and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to D2.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
D2 CHECK THE ONE-TOUCH DOWN RELAY GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between one-touch down relay C546-1, circuit 31-AJ15 (BK), harness side and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new one-touch down relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
