Normal Operation
Under normal operation, when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects the transmission is in REVERSE, a signal is sent to the SJB over the communication network. The SJB then sends voltage to the reversing lamps through circuit (LH) 1362 (DG/OG)/1367 (WH/YE) and (RH) 1367 (WH/YE). Ground for the lamps is provided through 1205 (BK).

NOTE: Manual transmission equipped vehicles only.

When the transmission is placed in REVERSE, the reversing lamps switch closes and provides ground to the PCM through circuit 1789 (VT/WH). Ground for the reversing lamps switch is provided by the PCM through circuit 359 (GY/RD).

Possible Causes
- An open in circuit 1362 (DG/OG), 1367 (WH/YE), 1789 (VT/WH) or 359 (GY/RD)
- Lamp
- Smart junction box (SJB)
- Powertrain control module (PCM)
