Test F: The Anti-Theft Indicator Is Always/Never On

PINPOINT TEST F: THE ANTI-THEFT INDICATOR IS ALWAYS/NEVER ON

F1-F2:

Normal Operation
The passive anti-theft system (PATS) uses a visual anti-theft indicator located in the instrument cluster. This indicator proves out for 3 seconds when the key is turned to ON or START under normal operation. If there is a PATS issue, this indicator either flashes rapidly or glows steadily (for more than 3 seconds) when the key is turned to ON or START. PATS also "flashes" the anti-theft indicator every 2 seconds at ignition OFF to act as a visual anti-theft deterrent. The anti-theft indicator receives ground from the powertrain control module (PCM) on circuit 31S-GL6 (BK/OG).

Possible Causes
- circuit 31S-GL6 (BK/OG) open or short to ground
- encoded ignition key
- instrument cluster
- PCM
