NOTE: Refer to the Transaxle Vehicle Harness Connector illustration Transaxle Connector Layouts Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures.

NOTE: Refer to the Transaxle Internal Harness Connectors illustration Transaxle Connector Layouts Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures.

-------------------------------------------------
B1 ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTICS SET UP

- Make sure the transaxle harness connector is fully seated, the terminals are fully engaged in connector and are in good condition before proceeding.
- Connect the scan tool.
- Ignition ON.
- Access the transmission fluid temperature (TFT) PIDs.
- Is communication with the PCM established?

Yes
GO to B2 .

No
REPEAT procedure to access the TFT PIDs. If the scan tool cannot establish communication with the PCM, REFER to the Computers and Control Systems Information for diagnosis of PCM.

-------------------------------------------------
B2 ELECTRICAL SIGNAL CHECK

- Disconnect: Transaxle Vehicle Harness C199.
- Visually inspect all wires and connectors for damage.
- Does the scan tool display -40°C (-40°F)?

Yes
GO to B3.

No
REPAIR circuit VET27 (BN/YE) for a short to ground. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
B3 CHECK THE VEHICLE HARNESS SIGNAL CIRCUIT

- Connect the fused jumper between C199-4, circuit RE242 (GN), harness side and C199-5, circuit VET27 (BN/YE), harness side.

- Does the scan tool display 190°C-195°C (374°F-383°F)?

Yes
GO to B5.

No
GO to B4.

-------------------------------------------------
B4 CHECK THE TFT INPUT CIRCUIT

- Measure the voltage between transaxle vehicle harness C199-5, circuit VET27 (BN/YE) and ground.

- Is the voltage between 4.8 and 5.1 volts?

Yes
GO to B5.

No
INSPECT the transaxle vehicle harness circuit VET27 (BN/YE) for an open. If an open circuit is not found, REPLACE the PCM. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
B5 CHECK THE TRANSAXLE INTERNAL WIRING HARNESS

- Measure the resistance between transaxle vehicle harness connector pin 5 (component side, transaxle internal harness) and ground.

- Measure the resistance between transaxle vehicle harness connector pin 4 (component side, transaxle internal harness) and ground.

- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
GO to B6.

No
INSTALL a new transaxle internal harness. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
B6 CHECK THE TRANSAXLE INTERNAL HARNESS TFT SENSOR

- Measure the resistance between C199-4 and C199-5, component side using the following chart:

Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Chart:

- Does the temperature to resistance specification match?

Yes
REFER to Diagnosis By Symptom Diagnosis By Symptom to diagnose an overheating concern.

No
INSPECT the transaxle internal harness for an open. If no open is found, REPLACE the TFT sensor. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
