Pinpoint Test A: The Alarm System Does Not Arm/Disarm - Using The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter

Normal Operation

The Smart Junction Box (SJB) receives lock/unlock commands from the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. The SJB then arms/disarms the perimeter alarm system.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- RKE transmitter concern
- SJB


PINPOINT TEST A: THE ALARM SYSTEM DOES NOT ARM/DISARM - USING THE RKE TRANSMITTER

NOTE: All RKE transmitters must be present before diagnosing the RKE system.

A1 CHECK THE LOCK FUNCTION USING THE RKE TRANSMITTER


- Press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons of the RKE transmitter.
- Do the door locks lock and unlock using the RKE transmitter?

Yes
GO to A2.

No
REFER to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems Testing and Inspection.

A2 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION


- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
