Ignition Coil-On-Plug
Removal and Installation
LH side
1. Disconnect the PCV tube-to-valve cover fitting quick connect coupling and position aside. For additional information, refer to Fuel System - General Information Quick Connect Coupling.
RH side
2. For ignition coil-on-plugs on cylinders 3 and 4, disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Service and Repair.
3. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube-to-valve cover fitting quick connect coupling and position aside. For additional information, refer to Fuel System - General Information Quick Connect Coupling.
Both sides
4. Remove the ignition coil-on-plug cover.
5. NOTE: Detach the engine appearance cover and lift to gain access to the ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.
Disconnect the ignition coil-on-plug electrical connector.
6. NOTE: When removing the ignition coil-on-plug, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.
Remove the bolt and the ignition coil-on-plug.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
7. Inspect the coil seals for rips, nicks or tears. Remove and discard any damaged coil seals.
- To install, slide the new coil seal onto the coil until it is fully seated at the top of the coil.
8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boots before attaching to the spark plugs.
