DTC 6: Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (Part 1 Of 2):

DTC 6: Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (Part 2 Of 2):

The ECT sensor is a temperature dependant resistor (thermistor). The resistance of the thermistor decreases as the coolant temperature increases as shown.

The Check Engine warning light may come on, indicating a system problem, when, in fact, there is a poor or intermittent electrical connection. First, check the electrical connections, clean or repair connections if necessary.
