DTC P0962: Problem in CVT Speed Change Control Valve Assembly Circuit (Low Current Output)2004-2005 Model
NOTE:
^ Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information before you troubleshoot.
^ This code is caused by an electrical circuit problem and cannot be caused by a mechanical problem in the transmission.
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect solenoid harness connector (8P).
3. Measure CVT speed change control valve assembly resistance between solenoid harness connector (8P) terminals No. 3 and No. 7.
Is there 3.8 - 6.8 Ohms?
YES - Go to step 7.
NO - Go to step 4.
4. Remove the lower valve body assembly.
5. Disconnect the solenoid harness from CVT speed change control valve assembly connector (2P).
6. Measure CVT speed change control valve assembly resistance between the connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
Is there 3.3 - 6.3 Ohms?
YES - Replace the solenoid harness.
NO - Replace the CVT speed change control valve assembly.
7. Disconnect PCM connectors B (24P) and C (22P).
8. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal B24 and body ground, and between C16 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short in the wire between PCM connector terminals B24, C16, and the solenoid harness connector (8P).
NO - Go to step 9.
9. Connect solenoid harness connector (8P).
10. Measure CVT speed change control valve assembly resistance between PCM connector terminals B24 and C16.
Is there 3.8 - 6.8 Ohms?
YES - Go to step 11.
NO - Repair loose terminal or open in the wire between PCM connector terminals B24, C6, and the CVT speed change control valve assembly.
11. Disconnect PCM connector A (31P), 2002 - 2004 models; and disconnect PCM connector C (22P).
12. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminals A4, A5, and body ground. 2002 - 2004 models; also check for continuity between PCM connector terminals C3, C5, and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM.
NO - Repair open in the wire between PCM connector terminals A4, A5, C3, C5, and ground (G101), or repair poor ground (G101).
