DTC B2989: A Problem in the A/C Compressor Motor

NOTE: Stop the engine for at least 1 hour.

1. Check the No. 22 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.

Is the fuse OK?

YES - Go to step 2.

NO - Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. 22 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.

2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then turn to ON (II).
4. Do the self-diagnostic with the HDS.
5. Check for DTCs.

Is DTC B2989 indicated?

YES - Go to step 6.

NO - Intermittent failure.

6. Check for DTCs.

Is DTC B2998 indicated?

YES - Troubleshooting DTC B2998.

NO - Replace the A/C compressor.
