Motor Control Module (MCM) Removal/Installation

NOTE:

- Wear insulated gloves and use insulated tools to protect you from electrical shock.
- When removing or installing items marked with , never fail to use insulated tools.

IMA components are located in this area. The IMA is a high-voltage system. You must be familiar with the IMA system before working on or around it. Make sure you have read the IMA service precautions before doing repairs or service High Voltage Safety.

1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.





2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the MCM. If it doesn't, troubleshoot the DLC circuit DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (IMA System).

4. Select the IMA SYSTEM with the HDS.

5. Select the REPLACEMENT MCM MENU, then select READ DATA, and follow the HDS prompts.

NOTE: If the READ DATA indicates FAILED, continue this procedure.

6. Make sure the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

7. Remove the IPU cover IPU Cover Removal/Installation.

8. Remove the bolts (A) and the PCU lid (B).






9. Remove the bolts (A, B) and the PCU busplate (C).






10. Remove the bolts (A) and the PCU cover (B).






11. Disconnect the MCM connectors (A).






12. Remove the bolts (B) and the MCM (C).

13. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

14. Do the IMA motor rotor position calibration procedure.

15. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

16. Select the IMA SYSTEM with the HDS.

17. Select the REPLACEMENT MCM MENU, then select WRITE DATA, and follow the HDS prompts.

NOTE: If the WRITE DATA indicates FAILED, continue this procedure.
