Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair




Brake Booster Replacement

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure.

2. Remove the master cylinder Service and Repair.

3. Remove the cowl cover Service and Repair.

4. Remove the under-hood fuse/relay box cover (A), then remove the two positive (+) terminals (B).





5. Remove the under-hood fuse/relay box mounting nut (C) and release the clip (D), then move the under-hood fuse/relay box (E) aside.

6. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (A) from the brake booster.






7. Remove the under-hood fuse/relay box bracket (A), then remove the engine wire harness clamps (B) and brake booster vacuum hose clamp (C).






8. Remove the brake lines (A) from the brake line clamp (B).





9. Remove the driver's dashboard undercover Driver's Dashboard Undercover Removal / Installation.

10. Remove the lock pin (A) and the clevis pin (B), then disconnect the yoke from the brake pedal.





11. Remove the brake booster mounting nuts (C).

12. Remove the brake booster (A) from the engine compartment.

NOTE:

- Be careful not to damage the brake booster mounting surfaces and the threads on the booster studs.
- Be careful not to bend or damage the brake lines.
- Use a new brake booster gasket (B) during reassembly.





13. Install the brake booster in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Install the master cylinder after installing the brake booster Service and Repair.
- Check the brake pedal height and free play after installing the master cylinder, and adjust it if necessary Adjustments.
- Bleed the brake system Service and Repair.

14. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.
