HOW TO ERASE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (WITHOUT CONSULT)

NOTE: Switching from Diagnostic Mode II to Mode I may only clear engine control/emission system related DTCs. Transmision control related DTCs may have to be cleared by manually initiating the transmission self diagnostic procedure.
If the transmission fault is no longer present or has been repaired, the DTC for that fault will be erased while the transmission self-diagnostic sequence is running.

A/T Self Diagnostic Procedure (part 1):

A/T Self Diagnostic Procedure (part 2):

1. Perform "SELF-DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE (Without Consult)". (The engine warm-up step can be skipped when performing the diagnosis only to erase the DTC.)

Switching Diagnostic Test Modes:

2. Change the diagnostic test mode from Mode II to Mode I by turning the mode selector on the Engine Control Module (ECM); this will clear any remaining non-transmission related DTCs.
