P0725 ENGINE SPEED SIGNAL

DESCRIPTION
The engine speed signal is transmitted from the ECM to the TCM with CAN communication line.

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.


NOTE:
If "DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE" has been previously performed, always turn ignition switch OFF. Then wait at least 10 seconds before performing the next test.

1.CHECK DTC DETECTION

With CONSULT-III
1. Start the engine.
2. Select "DATA MONITOR".
3. Drive vehicle and maintain the following conditions for at least 10 consecutive seconds.
VHCL/SE-A/T: 10 km/h (6 MPH) or more
ACCELE POSI: More than 1.0/8
SLCT LVR POSI: "D" position:

With GST
Follow the procedure "With CONSULT-III".
Is "P0725 ENGINE SPEED SIG" detected?
YES >> Go to "Diagnosis Procedure".
NO >> Check intermittent incident. Refer to GI-38, "Intermittent Incident". Service Information For Electrical Incident

Diagnosis Procedure

1.CHECK DTC OF ECM

With CONSULT-III
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Perform "SELF-DIAG RESULTS" mode for "ENGINE".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 2.
NO >> Check DTC detected item. Refer to EC-120, "CONSULT-III Function". CONSULT-III Function

2.CHECK DTC OF TCM

With CONSULT-III
1. Perform "SELF-DIAG RESULTS" mode for "TRANSMISSION".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 3.
NO >> Check DTC detected item. Refer to TM-112, "CONSULT-III Function (TRANSMISSION)". Scan Tool Testing and Procedures

3.CHECK THE IGNITION SIGNAL CIRCUIT
1. Start the engine.
2. Select "DATA MONITOR".
3. Check for engine speed change corresponding to "ACCELE POSI" while monitoring "ENGINE SPEED".





Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 4.
NO >> Check ignition signal circuit. Refer to EC-498, "Description". Ignition Signal

4.CHECK TCM POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT
Check TCM power supply and ground circuit. Refer to TM-163, "Diagnosis Procedure". Main Power Supply and Ground Circuit
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> Replace the control valve with TCM.
NO >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
