Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair






Catalytic Converter

Removal

WARNING: Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
Raise the vehicle.
2 Remove the air deflector. For additional information, refer to Air Deflector




3 Remove the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
1) Release the electrical connector from the bracket.
2) Disconnect the electrical connector.
3) Remove the HO2S.




4 Remove the catalyst monitor sensor.
- Release the electrical connector from the bracket.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the catalyst monitor sensor.




5 Loosen the catalytic converter exhaust clamps and release the front silencer.




6 Release the catalytic converter.




7 Remove the catalytic converter.

Installation
1 To install, reverse the removal procedure.




2 Tighten to 40 Nm.




3 Tighten to 55 Nm.




4 Install catalyst monitor sensor and tighten to 40 Nm.




5 Install the HO2S and tighten to 40 Nm.
