Rough Road Signal Description

1. Fault codes:
ABS - rough road signal line permanently at ground or open circuit P1317
ABS - rough road signal line permanently at 12V P1318

The ABS (where fitted) or rough road detection ECM uses all four wheel speed signals to determine if the vehicle is on a surface liable to give false indication of misfire. This is signalled to GEMS, which disables misfire detection under these conditions the link integrity is checked. Though the Defender doesnot have ABS, wheel sensors and a special ABS ECM are fitted to provide a rough road signal.
