DTC B2418 - Headlight Beam Level Control Motor RH Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
The headlight leveling motor receives a signal from the AFS ECU to operate. The AFS ECU receives a signal indicating the operating conditions of the headlight leveling motor.
HINT:
Perform a visual check of the headlight leveling motor before replacing it.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
DTC B2417 or B2418 output does not occur.
NG -- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR)
OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR)
(a) Using the Techstream, perform the Active Test.
AFS
OK:
Headlight leveling motors operate normally.
NG -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (AFS ECU)
OK -- REPLACE AFS ECU
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (AFS ECU)
(a) Using the Techstream, read the Data List.
AFS
OK:
Power supply voltage is 11 to 14 V.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the E91 ECU connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - HEADLIGHT LEVELING ACTUATOR)
(a) Disconnect the E91 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the A42 and A48 actuator connectors.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
for LH
for RH
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR (OPERATION)
(a) Temporarily replace the headlight with a new or normally functioning one.
(b) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
DTC B1247 or B2418 output does not occur.
NG -- REPLACE AFS ECU
OK -- END (HEADLIGHT IS DEFECTIVE)
