B1163

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1163/82: Short to B+ in Curtain Shield Squib RH Circuit

DTC B1163/82 - Short to B+ in Curtain Shield Squib RH Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The curtain shield squib RH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and the curtain shield airbag assembly RH.
The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.
DTC B1163/82 is recorded when a short to B+ is detected in the curtain shield squib RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT:
- Perform the simulation method by selecting "check mode" (signal check) with the intelligent tester. Check Mode Procedure
- After selecting "check mode" (signal check), perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the airbag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road. Check Mode Procedure

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION
(a) Check whether the vehicle is equipped with the rear seat entertainment system.
Result:
A
without Rear seat entertainment system
B
with Rear seat entertainment system
B -- CHECK CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY RH (CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB RH)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY RH (CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB RH)

(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the connectors from the curtain shield airbag assembly RH.
(d) Connect the white wire side of SST (resistance 2.1 Ohms) to the floor wire.
CAUTION: Never connect the tester to the curtain shield airbag assembly RH (Curtain shield squib RH) for measurement, as this may lead to a serious injury due to airbag deployment.
NOTE: Do not forcibly insert the SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

Insert the SST straight into the terminals of the connector.
SST: 09843-18060
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory .
(h) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(i) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(j) Check the DTCs .
OK:
DTC B1163/82 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than DTC B1163/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- CHECK FLOOR WIRE (CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB RH CIRCUIT)
OK -- REPLACE CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY RH
3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB RH CIRCUIT)
