P310 HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0705-757: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit

DTC P0705-757 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit

DTC P0705-758 - Transmission Range Sensor Circuit

DTC P0851-775 - Park / Neutral Switch Input Circuit Low

DESCRIPTION

The park/neutral position switch sends 8 switch signals to the HV control ECU. The HV control ECU uses the signals to detect the shift lever position (P, R, N, D, or B) and control for such as the car moving forward and reverse.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CLEAR DTC (HV)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(d) Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
(e) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
(f) Clear the DTCs. Hybrid Control System

NEXT -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (SHIFT POSITION)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Shift Sensor SW - P, Shift Sensor SW - R, Shift Sensor SW - N, Shift Sensor SW - D, Shift Sensor SW - RV, Shift Sensor SW - FD, Shift Sensor SW - MJ.
(d) While slowly moving the shift lever from the P to B position, then back to P, read the data list (shift position) displayed on the Techstream.
HINT: Be sure to slowly move the shift lever.

Result:

(e) Check that no DTCs are output.
Result:
DTCs P0705-757, P0705-758, and P0851-775 are not output.
OK -- INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
NG -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU

(a) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:

OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
NG -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the S35 park/neutral position switch connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:

NOTE: Turning the ignition switch to the ON position with the park/neutral position switch connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing the inspection.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH)

(a) Disconnect the H31 and H33 connectors from the HV control ECU.
(b) Disconnect the S35 park/neutral position switch connector.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
Standard Voltage:

NOTE: Turning the ignition switch to the ON position with the park/neutral position switch connector and HV control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing the inspection.
(d) Turn the ignition switch off.
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for open):

Standard Resistance (Check for short):

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
