P0A33
P310 HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0A32-666: Drive Motor "B" Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
DTC P0A32-666 - Drive Motor "B" Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
DTC P0A33-665 - Drive Motor "B" Temperature Sensor Circuit High
DESCRIPTION
The resistance of the thermistor built into the motor temperature sensor changes in accordance with changes in Motor temperature. The lower the Motor temperature, the higher the thermistor resistance. Conversely, the higher the temperature, the lower the resistance.
HINT: After confirming that DTC P0A32-666 or P0A33-665 is output, use the Techstream to check "Rear Motor Temp" in the HV system ECU data list.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK CONNECTION CONDITION OF HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR (LOOSENESS AND POOR CONTACT)
(a) Check the connections of all HV control ECU connectors.
OK:
Connectors are connected securely and there is no poor connection.
NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (Rr MOTOR TEMP)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
(d) Read the value of "Rear Motor Temp" in the data list displayed on the Techstream.
Result:
HINT:
- If there is an open or +B short circuit, -58°F (-50°C) will be displayed.
- If there is a GND short circuit, 401°F (205°C) will be displayed.
C -- INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
B -- READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (Rr MOTOR TEMP)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT REAR MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR
(a) Disconnect the M17 rear motor temperature sensor connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Result:
HINT: The rear motor temperature sensor is not available as a single product. If it requires replacement, replace the rear traction motor w/ transaxle assembly.
C -- READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (Rr MOTOR TEMP)
B -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - REAR MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
A -- REPLACE REAR TRACTION MOTOR W/TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - REAR MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
(a) Disconnect the H30 connector from the HV control ECU.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
NOTE: Turning the ignition switch to the ON position with the HV control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing the inspection.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
5. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (Rr MOTOR TEMP)
(a) Using SST, create a short circuit between terminals RMT (H30-21) and RMTG (H30-20) of the vehicle side connector of the HV control ECU.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
(d) Read the value of "Rear Motor Temp" displayed on the Techstream.
Standard:
Displayed temperature is 401°F (205°C)
HINT: If the Techstream shows a temperature of -58°F (-50°C), check the connection of the HV control ECU. If it is connected normally, replace the HV control ECU.
NG -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
6. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (Rr MOTOR TEMP)
(a) Disconnect the M17 rear motor temperature sensor connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
(d) Read the value of "Rear Motor Temp" displayed on the Techstream.
Standard:
Displayed temperature is -58°F (-50°C)
HINT: The rear motor temperature sensor is not available as a single product. If it requires replacement, replace the rear traction motor w/ transaxle assembly.
OK -- REPLACE REAR TRACTION MOTOR W/TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
NG -- Continue to next step.
7. READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (Rr MOTOR TEMP)
(a) Disconnect the H30 connector from the HV control ECU.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Rear Motor Temp.
(d) Read the value of "Rear Motor Temp" displayed on the Techstream.
Standard:
Displayed temperature is -58°F (-50°C)
NOTE: Turning the ignition switch to the ON position with the HV control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing the inspection.
NG -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
