DTC 5-1 - LEXUS Link Communication Error

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when one of the following occurs: 1) the mayday ECU assembly is malfunctioning; 2) main body ECU is malfunctioning; or 3) the BEAN line is open or short.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (BLINKING PATTERN)
(a) Turn the ignition switch from ON to OFF.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON and wait 10 seconds.
(c) Check for the DTC again and wait for 20 seconds.
OK:
DTC 5-1 is not output.
OK -- CLEAR HISTORIC DTC
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT
(a) Check for DTC using the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM).
HINT: The mayday ECU assembly is connected to the BEAN. Check that there are no multiplex communication system DTCs present.

NOTE:
If replacement of the ECU is necessary, replace the mayday battery (backup battery) together with the ECU. After the replacement, register the ECU Programming and Relearning.
