Front Power Seat Control System
SEAT: FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM: OPERATION CHECK
OPERATION CHECK
1. CHECK POWER SEAT FUNCTION
(a) Check the basic functions.
(1) Operate the power seat switches and check to make sure each seat function works:
- Sliding
- Front vertical
- Lifter
- Reclining
- Lumbar support
- Variable (Driver seat only)
2. CHECK POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSEMBLY (SLIDING, FRONT VERTICAL, LIFTER, AND RECLINING FUNCTIONS)
(a) Check the PTC operation inside the power seat motor.
HINT: The resistance of the PTC thermistor increases when the power seat switch is held down even after the seat has been moved to the farthest possible position in one direction. If the resistance increases beyond a specified level, the current is shut off to prevent a short circuit.
NOTICE:
- The inspection should be performed with the seat installed in the vehicle.
- Perform the 4 steps below to check the full range of motion for each power seat function.
(1) Choose a power seat function. Operate the power seat switch and move the seat to the farthest possible position in one direction. Keep the seat in that position for approximately 60 seconds.
(2) Operate the power seat switch again and continue to try to move the seat in the same direction as in the previous step. Measure the time until the current is shut off (motor operation sound will stop).
Standard:
4 to 90 seconds
(3) After the current is shut off, release the power seat switch and wait for approximately 60 seconds.
(4) Operate the same power seat switch and move the seat in the opposite direction. Check that the motor operates.
3. CHECK POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSEMBLY (VARIABLE FUNCTION)
(a) Check the PTC operation inside the power seat motor.
NOTE:
The inspection should be performed with the seat installed in the vehicle.
(1) Operate the seat variable cushion switch and move the seat cushion to either the foremost or rearmost position. Keep the seat in that position for approximately 60 seconds.
(2) Operate the seat variable cushion switch again and continue to try to move the seat cushion in the same direction as in the previous step. Measure the time until the current is shut off (motor operation sound will stop).
Standard:
4 to 90 seconds
(3) After the current is shut off, release the seat variable cushion switch and wait for approximately 60 seconds.
(4) Operate the seat variable cushion switch and move the seat in the opposite direction. Check that the motor operates.
4. CHECK LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY
(a) Check the PTC operation inside the power seat motor.
NOTE:
The inspection should be performed with the seat installed in the vehicle.
(1) Operate the lumbar support switch and move the lumbar support to either the foremost or rearmost position. Keep the seat in that position for approximately 60 seconds.
(2) Operate the lumbar support switch again and continue to try to move the lumbar support in the same direction as in the previous step. Measure the time until the current is shut off (motor operation sound will stop).
Standard:
4 to 90 seconds
(3) After the current is shut off, release the lumbar support switch and wait for approximately 60 seconds.
(4) Operate the lumbar support switch and move the seat in the opposite direction. Check that the motor operates.
5. CHECK MEMORY AND SEAT RESTORING OPERATION
HINT: The seat position will not be stored if the seat memory SET switch and 2 or more of the seat memory switches (for example, seat memory switch 1 and seat memory switch 2) are pressed simultaneously.
(a) Turn the engine switch on (IG) and move the shift lever to P.
(b) Move the seat to the foremost and uppermost position using the seat switch.
(c) Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the seat position is memorized when seat memory switch 1 is pressed while the seat memory SET switch is being pressed.
(d) Move the seat from the foremost and uppermost position using the seat switch.
(e) Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the seat position is memorized when seat memory switch 2 is pressed while the seat memory SET switch is being pressed.
(f) Move the seat to the rearmost and lowermost position using the seat switch.
(g) Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the seat position is memorized when seat memory switch 3 is pressed while the seat memory SET switch is being pressed.
(h) Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves to the foremost and uppermost position (memorized position) when seat memory switch 1 of the seat memory switch is pressed.
(i) Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves out of the foremost and uppermost position (memorized position) when seat memory switch 2 of the seat memory switch is pressed.
(j) Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves to the rearmost and lowermost position (memorized position) when seat memory switch 3 of the seat memory switch is pressed.
(k) After the engine switch is turned off and the driver side door is opened, check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves to the memorized position when seat memory switch 1, seat memory switch 2 or seat memory switch 3 is pressed within 30 seconds.
(l) Check that the following procedures clear the memorized seat positions of seat memory switch 1, seat memory switch 2 or seat memory switch 3: slide the seat fully forward or rearward; hold seat memory switch 1, seat memory switch 2 or seat memory switch 3; disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal; release seat memory switch 1, seat memory switch 2, or seat memory switch 3; and wait for 3 minutes.
6. CHECK MEMORY CALL FUNCTION
(a) AUTOMATIC MEMORY CALL OPERATION INSPECTION
(1) With the transmitter's recognition code registered into the memory system, perform an entry unlock or wireless unlock operation. Open the driver door and check that the front seat, front seat belt anchor, steering wheel and outer rear view mirror automatically move to the positions recorded in memory.
(b) MEMORY REGISTRATION (WITH WIRELESS FUNCTION)
(1) Prepare by recording the driving position through the seat memory switch (seat memory switch 1, seat memory switch 2 or seat memory switch 3).
(2) With the engine switch off and the driver door closed, press and hold both of the following: a seat memory switch (seat memory switch 1, seat memory switch 2 or seat memory switch 3) and transmitter unlock switch. Continue holding the switches until the answer-back buzzer sounds.
(c) MEMORY REGISTRATION (WITH WIRELESS FUNCTION, CARD TYPE)
(1) Prepare by recording the driving position through the seat memory switch (seat memory switch 1, seat memory switch 2 or seat memory switch 3).
(2) Hold only the transmitter to be registered.
(3) With the engine switch off and the driver door closed, press and hold both of the following: a seat memory switch (seat memory switch 1, seat memory switch 2 or seat memory switch 3) and door lock control switch. Continue holding the switches until the answer-back buzzer sounds.
NOTE:
Do not bring 2 or more keys into the vehicle.
HINT:
- Either the lock or unlock switch on the door control switch can be pressed.
- The door control switch on the driver side or front passenger side can be used.
