DESCRIPTION

The AFS ECU receives steering wheel position information (turned to the right or left) from the main body ECU via CAN communication.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
First perform the communication function inspections in How to Proceed with Troubleshooting to confirm that there are no CAN communication malfunctions before troubleshooting this symptom.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(b) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B2429 output does not occur.

NG -- CHECK AFS ECU (OPERATION)

OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Electronic Circuit Inspection Procedure

2. CHECK AFS ECU (OPERATION)

(a) Temporarily replace the AFS ECU with a new or normally functioning one Removal.

(b) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B2429 output does not occur.

NG -- GO TO VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING SYSTEM Problem Symptoms Table

OK -- END (REPLACE AFS ECU) Removal
