Removal





BRAKE SYSTEM (OTHER): BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION (w/ Air Suspension)

NOTICE:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Suspension Control System.

2. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD)

NOTICE:
After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and setting. As a result, after turning the power switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. DISCONNECT BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP CONNECTOR

(a) With the power switch off, disconnect the 2 brake booster pump connectors.





4. PERFORM ACCUMULATOR ZERO DOWN

(a) Drain the brake fluid in the reservoir tank near the MIN line.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 with the power switch off.

(c) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(d) Turn the Techstream on and enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Utility / ECB (Electronically Controlled Brake system) Utility / Zero Down.

HINT
Using the Techstream to perform accumulator zero down causes the pressurized fluid in the accumulator to be returned to the brake fluid reservoir.

(e) When the buzzer sounds, turn the power switch off.

(f) Turn the Techstream off.

5. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX Removal

6. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE:
* If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately clean it off.
* If air has leaked into the No. 2 brake actuator hose (the hose between the brake booster pump and brake fluid reservoir), use the same bleeding method as for the brake actuator assembly.

7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

8. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

HINT
Refer to the instructions for Removal of the windshield wiper motor and link assembly Removal.

9. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAP LH (w/ Air Suspension) Removal

10. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAP RH (w/ Air Suspension)

HINT
Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.

11. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the connector (w/ Windshield Deicer).





(b) Disengage the grommet and clamp, and separate the wire harness.

(c) Remove the 6 nuts, 4 bolts and outer cowl top panel sub-assembly.





12. REMOVE INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

13. REMOVE INLET NO. 2 AIR CLEANER Removal

14. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER Removal

15. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH HOSE Removal

16. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RESERVOIR HOSE

(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 1 reservoir hose from the brake master cylinder sub-assembly.





17. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RESERVOIR HOSE

(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 2 reservoir hose from the brake master cylinder sub-assembly.





18. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

19. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING Removal

20. SEPARATE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS Removal

21. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER WITH SIMULATOR CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the connector and disengage the clamp.





(b) Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the No. 6 front brake tube and No. 7 front brake tube from the brake master with simulator cylinder assembly.

(c) Remove the 4 nuts and brake master with simulator cylinder assembly.





22. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET

(a) Remove the brake booster gasket from the brake master with simulator cylinder assembly.
