SLIDING ROOF / CONVERTIBLE: SLIDING ROOF SYSTEM: OPERATION CHECK

1. CHECK AUTO OPERATION









(a) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(b) When the sliding roof switch is turned to position [1], check that the sliding roof stops while operating the sliding roof switch. When releasing the sliding roof switch, check that the switch returns to position [2] and the sliding roof slides to fully open.
(c) When the sliding roof switch is turned to position [3], check that the roof glass stops at the comfort stop position.
(d) When the sliding roof switch is turned to position [2], check that the roof glass stops at the fully open position.
(e) When the sliding roof switch is turned to position [9] from any of position [1] to [8], check that the roof glass stops at the fully closed position.
(f) When the sliding roof switch is turned to position [10], check that the roof glass tilts up to the fully open position.
(g) When the sliding roof switch is turned to position [9] with the roof glass fully tilted up, check that the roof glass fully closed.
(h) When the sliding roof switch is pushed at position [9] with the roof glass at the fully closed or open position, check that the roof glass starts auto operation (SLIDE OPEN or SLIDE CLOSE) and stop the comfort stop position or fully close position.
(i) When the sliding roof switch is pushed during sliding roof auto operation, check that the roof glass stops.
2. CHECK SLIDING ROOF OPERATION AFTER ENGINE SWITCH IS TURNED OFF
(a) Turn the engine switch from on (IG) to off, and check that the sliding roof can be operated. Then open and close the driver side door once, and check that the sliding roof cannot be operated.
(b) Turn the engine switch from on (IG) to off and wait for approximately 43 seconds. Check that the sliding roof cannot be operated.
(c) Operate the auto operation (SLIDE OPEN/CLOSE or TILT UP/DOWN) with the driver door or the passenger door open. While the roof glass is in motion, turn the engine switch off. Check that the roof glass stops immediately.
3. CHECK JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION
CAUTION:
- Do not use a part of your body, for example, your hand, to check the jam protection.
- Do not allow anything to become caught in the sliding roof by accident in this procedure.
- Perform the inspection from the inside of the vehicle.
NOTICE:
- Do not use hard objects, such as a hammer, to avoid damaging the roof.
- If the jam protection does not operate, reset the sliding roof drive gear (motor).





(a) When the SLIDE CLOSE function is operating and an object is caught between the vehicle body and glass, check that the roof glass opens a distance of 218 mm (8.58 in.) from the point of contact with the object, or opens fully if an opening distance of 218 mm (8.58 in.) is not available.





(b) When the TILT DOWN function is operating, and an object is caught between the vehicle body and the roof glass, check that the sliding roof tilts up fully.

4. CHECK TRANSMITTER-LINKED OPERATION FUNCTION
HINT: The sliding roof wireless operation can be customized to perform either the sliding roof sliding operation or tilting operation.

(a) Close all the doors.
(b) Hold down the transmitter UNLOCK switch for approximately 3.4 seconds or more and check that the SLIDE OPEN/TILT UP operation occurs. Also, when the UNLOCK switch is released, check that the roof glass stops moving.
5. CHECK KEY-LINKED OPERATION FUNCTION (DRIVER'S DOOR ONLY)
HINT: The sliding roof key-linked operation can be customized to perform either the sliding roof sliding operation or tilting operation.

(a) Insert the key into the driver side door key lock cylinder, and turn the key to the UNLOCK position for approximately 2.5 seconds or more. Check that the sliding roof starts moving (SLIDE OPEN/TILT UP operation). Then release the key and check that the sliding roof stops moving.
(b) Insert the key into the driver side door key lock cylinder, and turn the key to the LOCK position for approximately 2.5 seconds or more. Check that the sliding roof starts moving (SLIDE CLOSE/TILT DOWN operation). Then release the key and check that the sliding roof stops moving.
