DESCRIPTION

The combination meter receives engine revolution signals from the vehicle control ECU via the CAN line. The combination meter displays engine revolution data that is calculated based on the data received from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

(a) Check for the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

A -- Continue to next step.

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (TACHOMETER)

(a) Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "Active Test".

Combination Meter:





OK:

Needle indication is normal.

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SPEED)

(a) Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "Data List".

Combination Meter:





OK:

Engine speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as actual engine speed.

NG -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SPEED)

OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SPEED)

(a) Operate the Techstream according to the display and select "Data List".

Hybrid Control:





OK:

Engine speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual engine speed.

NG -- Go to HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

(a) Temporarily replace the combination meter with a new one Disassembly.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the operation of the tachometer returns to normal Operation Check.

OK:

Operation of tachometer returns to normal.

NG -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU Removal

OK -- END (COMBINATION METER IS DEFECTIVE)
