Remove/Install A/C Compressor
Tightening Torques
Screw carrier to cylinder. head M 10 x 30 30 ± 3 Nm.
Screw compressor to holder M 8 x 90 20 ± 2.5 Nm.
Suction or pressure hose to refrigerant compressor 42 ± 2 Nm.
Screw, holder tensioning roller to cylinder head 28 ± 2 Nm.
Necked-down screw, belt tensioning roller 42 ± 2 Nm.
Note: Bores and screws with metric threads. Hose connections with inch threads, as before.
Attention! If the refrigerant compressor is renewed or reconditioned, also renew fluid reservoir. In addition, check function and direction of rotation of auxiliary fan by means of 52° C and 100° C switch.

Removal
1 Cover right hand front fender.
2 Loosen necked-down screw (21) for V-belt tensioning roller (20).
3 Slacken adjusting screw (18) and remove tensioning roller (20).
4 Remove V-belt (26) from refrigerant compressor.
5 Discharge air conditioning system (recycling) and unscrew hose connections from a/c compressor. Then use caps and plugs to seal all connections.
6 Disconnect electric line on cable connector.
Attention! If refrigerant compressor is renewed owing to internal damage e.g. to locking or to damage on valve plates, additionally renew hose line from expansion valve to compressor. Also renew expansion valve and fluid reservoir.
7 Unscrew four screws M 8 x 90 (arrows) and remove refrigerant compressor.
Installation
8 Check compressor carrier for damage and check screws (arrows) for tight seat.
Attention! New refrigerant compressors are filled with refrigerant. Prior to installation, drain refrigerant slowly on suction end.
Correct oil level.
9 Screw refrigerant compressor to carrier by means of available screws (arrows) and washers.
10 Connect electric line to cable connector.
11 Mount V-belt and attach tensioning roller (20) (do not yet tighten necked-down screw (21)).
12 Tension adjusting screw (18) until the specified V-belt tension is attained. Tighten necked-down screw (21).
13 Replace receiver dehydrator (dryer) and expansion valve. Then fill an additional 10 cm3 refrigerant oil into the compressor.
14 Connect hose or pipe lines to refrigerant compressor (check 0-rings and renew, if required).
Attention! Moisten sealing members and threads with coldflowing oil.
15 Evacuate air-conditioning system and fill.
16 Check air-conditioning system for function.
