Console: Service and Repair

REMOVAL:

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove both floor mats and foam parts.

Center Console Assembly:

3. Remove the shift lever cover:
a. Remove the carpeted cover (1)
b. Pull off the shift lever sleeve (4)
c. Remove the retaining screw (2); holding the cover at the cutout of the shift lever and at the rear, lift the cover up and back.

4. Remove the ACC push-button control unit.
5. Remove the mounting screws, disconnect the electrical connections and remove the mounting plate.

Removing The Switch Holder:

6. Remove the rocker switches and switch panel.

Removing The Center Console Retaining Nuts:

7. Remove the nuts (arrows) at the center console.

Removing The Radio:

8. Push the retaining clips (arrows) down, pull the radio outward, disconnect the wires, and remove the radio.

Removing The Switch Plate:

9. Push back the clips and take the switch plate out of the holder.

Rear Fastening Screw:

10. Remove the countersunk rear fastening screw (arrow).

Front Fastening Screws:

11. Remove the left and right fastening screws (arrow).

Lower Holding Link:

12. Disengage the lower holding link of the lateral tunnel lining.

Upper Holding Link:

13. Disengage the upper holding link of the lateral tunnel lining and remove the center console by sliding it up and back.
14. Remove the lateral tunnel lining in the same manner.
15. Reinstall in reverse order.
