Radiator: Service and Repair

NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.
REMOVAL
WARNING:
^ Risk of scalding as a result of hot coolant spraying out
^ Open cap of expansion reservoir or radiator (2)
^ Do not open the cap of the expansion reservoir or radiator unless the coolant temperature is below 90°C.
^ Carefully turn cap to the first detent or slowly about 1/2 turn.
^ Wear protective clothing.
1. Drain coolant, refer to Draining/Filling Cooling System.
2. Pull off flat springs (15) and (16)
3. Remove viscous fan coupling, refer to Replacement. Service and Repair
4. Detach and seal transmission oil pipes (13) and (14)
Using a suitable double end 14 x 1.5 mm thread union Connect installing (01) for ATF pipes as shown in the illustration above.
5. Detach coolant hoses (10), (11) and (12)
Inspect condition of coolant hoses and hose clips and replace if necessary
6. Remove fan grill (20)
7. Remove front end cross panel (2)
8. Remove intake air scoop (22a)
9. Unbolt condenser at radiator (18)
10. Remove installation model 140: if new radiator
INSTALLATION
- Install in the reverse order, noting the following.
Insert the securing studs of the radiator (18) into the rubber grommets (21) of the bottom cross member when installing
Check ATF level in automatic transmission and adjust to correct level
Inspect cooling system for leaks, refer to Test System For Leaks. Testing and Inspection
- Tighten ATF pipe connection nuts to: 20 Nm
