Drive Belt: Service and Repair

NOTE: Numbers in parentheses ( ) indicate a component or tool in the associated illustration.

REMOVAL
1. Remove viscous fan coupling, refer to Cooling System.
2. Slacken poly V-belt
- Using a suitable shop made lever for pushing spring tensioning lever of poly V-belt tensioning device
3. Take off poly V-belt
4. Check poly V-belt, typical damage
- Examine belt pulley surface and tensioning device for signs of damage and soiling; replace if necessary

INSTALLATION
1. Fit on poly V-belt

NOTE: Do not use belt wax or similar products





2. Fit on a 2140 mm poly V-belt in numerical order shown in the illustration above, beginning at tensioning pulley
3. Tension poly V-belt as follows:





a. Push spring tensioning lever (23 onto bolt at cylinder head.
b. Attach tension spring (4) to the tensioning device and spring tensioning lever (2).
c. Use the lever (01) to press the spring tensioning lever (2) slightly to the left until the bolt (3) can be inserted.
d. Tighten nut (1).
3. Install viscous fan coupling
