Removing and Installing Friction Rail In Crankcase

Preceding work:
- Timing case cover removed. Removing and Installing Timing Case Cover




- Mark crankshaft sprocket (11) relative to timing chain (6) with a colored marking (arrows).
- Remove tensioning rail (2).
- Lift off timing chain (6) at camshaft sprockets (3) and (5).
- Pay attention to colored markings (arrows).
- Pull off guide rail (18) at bearing pins (17) and (21).
- Pay attention to colored marking (arrows) on camshaft sprocket (11); check basic position of camshafts is necessary.
- Note: The plastic guide (sliding surface) is clipped into the guide rail (18) and can be replaced separately.
