Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION













REMOVAL SERVICE POINT

[[A]] EXHAUST MANIFOLD NUT/EXHAUST MANIFOLD WASHER/EXHAUST MANIFOLD/EXHAUST MANIFOLD LOWER COVER REMOVAL [AWD]

1. Remove the exhaust manifold lower cover bolt.

2. Move the exhaust manifold lower cover to the position where it will not interfere with the removal of the exhaust manifold nut.

3. Remove the exhaust manifold nut and the exhaust manifold washer.

4. Overlap the exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold lower cover, and remove the exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold lower cover as a set.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS

]]A[[ EXHAUST MANIFOLD/EXHAUST MANIFOLD WASHER/EXHAUST MANIFOLD NUT INSTALLATION [FWD]

1. Install the exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold washer.

2. Temporarily tighten the exhaust manifold nut.





3. Tighten the exhaust manifold nut with the specified torque in the order of number shown in the figure.
Tightening torque: 49± 5Nm (36± 3 ft-lb)


]]A[[ EXHAUST MANIFOLD LOWER COVER/EXHAUST MANIFOLD/EXHAUST MANIFOLD WASHER/EXHAUST MANIFOLD NUT INSTALLATION [AWD]

1. Overlap the exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold lower cover (with the exhaust manifold lower cover bolt removed), and then install the exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold lower cover to the engine as a set.

2. Move the exhaust manifold lower cover to the position where it will not interfere with the installation of the exhaust manifold nut.

3. Install the exhaust manifold washer and temporarily tighten the exhaust manifold nut.





4. Tighten the exhaust manifold nut with the specified torque in the order of number shown in the figure.
Tightening torque: 49± 5Nm (36± 3 ft-lb)
5. Install the exhaust manifold lower cover to the exhaust manifold, and tighten the exhaust manifold lower cover bolt with the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 8.0± 2.0Nm (71± 17 in-lb)


]]B[[ EXHAUST MANIFOLD BRACKET INSTALLATION

1. Temporarily tighten the exhaust manifold bracket with mounting bolt.

2. Make sure that the exhaust manifold bracket is closely contacted with the installation surface of each part.

3. Tighten the cylinder block side mounting bolt to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 41± 10Nm (30± 7 ft-lb)


4. Tighten the exhaust manifold side mounting bolts to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 41± 10Nm (30± 7 ft-lb)
