INSPECTION PROCEDURE 4: The multi-center display operation tone (beep sound) does not sound.
CAUTION:
Before replacing the multi-center display, ensure that the power supply circuit and the ground circuit are normal. (Check that the voltage is 10 V or more.)
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- The multi-center display may be defective
DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
- MB991958: Scan Tool (M.U.T.-III Sub Assembly)
- MB991824: V.C.I.
- MB991827: M.U.T.-III USB Cable
- MB991910: M.U.T.-III Main Harness A
STEP 1. Check that the multi-center display operation tone setting is set to With the operation tone.
Q. Is the setting of multi-center display operation tone set to With the operation tone?
YES Go to Step 2.
NO Set the operation tone setting to With the operation tone. Check that the multi-center display operation tone (beep sound) is output.
STEP 2. Check that the ignition key reminder tone alarm sounds normally.
Q. Does the ignition key reminder tone alarm sound normally?
YES Go to Step 3.
NO Carry out the troubleshooting for SWS. Symptom Chart.
STEP 3. Using scan tool MB991958, diagnose the CAN bus line.

CAUTION:
To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to "How to connect SWS monitor How to Connect SWS Monitor."
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3)Diagnose the CAN bus line.
(4)Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Q. Is the CAN bus line found to be normal?
YES Go to Step 4.
NO Repair the CAN bus line CAN Bus Diagnostics Chart).
STEP 4. Temporarily replace the multi-center display, and check that the multi-center display operation tone (beep sound) is output.
Q. When the multi-center display is temporarily replaced, does the multi-center display operation tone (beep sound) sound?
YES Replace the multi-center display. Check that the multi-center display operation tone (beep sound) is output.
NO Return to Step 1.
