Engine Front Cover Replacement


Tools Required
* J 41480 Front and Rear Cover Alignment
* J 41476 Front and Rear Cover Alignment Tool



Removal Procedure

1. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement (Oil Pan Replacement) .
2. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Removal (Overhaul) .




3. Remove the engine front cover to cylinder block retaining bolts (1).

Important: The engine front cover gasket (3) is a single use only component and must be replaced whenever the engine front cover (2) is removed.


4. Remove the engine front cover (2) and gasket (3).
5. Remove the engine front cover gasket (3).
Discard the engine front cover gasket (3).
6. Clean and inspect the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Cleaning and Inspection (Overhaul) .



Installation Procedure

1. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Installation (Overhaul) .
2. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Removal (Overhaul) .
3. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement (Oil Pan Replacement) .
