Dome Lamp Replacement

Removal Procedure - Front (with Sunroof)


Important: For servicing of the LED lighting (ambient lighting) replacement of the complete assembly will be necessary as the LED is not a serviceable item.


Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .

Important: The headliner can be easily damaged or discoloured. Use care when working in the area of the headliner.


2. Remove the sunroof switch. Refer to Sunroof Switch Replacement (Service and Repair) .




3. Remove the dome lamp assembly to roof retaining screws (1).





Important: Grasp the dome lamp assembly (1) and pull downwards to remove the dome lamp assembly (1) from the headliner assembly.


4. Remove the dome lamp assembly (1) from the headliner assembly.




5. Disconnect the overhead console courtesy lamp assembly electrical connector (2).
6. Disconnect the OnStar(R) microphone electrical connector (1).
7. Remove the overhead console courtesy lamp assembly (3) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure - Front (with Sunroof)





1. Install the dome lamp assembly (3) to the vehicle.
2. Connect the OnStar(R) microphone connector (1).
3. Connect the overhead console courtesy lamp assembly electrical connector (2).




4. Insert the two locating arms into the headlining assembly.
5. Carefully push the dome lamp assembly (1) into the headlining assembly.




6. Install the dome lamp assembly to roof retaining screw (3).

Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

7. Install the sunroof switch. Refer to Sunroof Switch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
9. Test dome lamp assembly for correct operation.



Removal Procedure - Front (without Sunroof)

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .

Important: The headliner can be easily damaged or discoloured. Use care when working in the area of the headliner.






2. Open the sun glasses storage compartment (1) to reveal the retaining screw (2).
3. Remove the dome lamp assembly to roof retaining screw (2).

Important: Grasp the dome lamp assembly (3) and pull downwards to remove the dome lamp assembly (3) from the headliner assembly (4).


4. Remove the dome lamp assembly (3) from the headliner assembly (4).




5. Disconnect the overhead console courtesy lamp assembly electrical connector (2).
6. Disconnect the OnStar(R) microphone electrical connector (1).
7. Remove the dome lamp assembly (3) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure - Front (without Sunroof)





1. Install the dome lamp assembly (3) to the vehicle.
2. Connect the OnStar(R) microphone connector (1).
3. Connect the overhead console courtesy lamp assembly electrical connector (2).




4. Insert the two locating arms (1) into the headlining assembly (4).
5. Push the dome lamp assembly (5) up into the headlining assembly (4).
6. Install the dome lamp assembly to roof retaining screw (3).

Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

7. Close the sun glasses storage compartment (2).
8. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .



Removal Procedure - Rear

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .

Important: The headliner can be easily damaged or discoloured. Use care when working in the area of the headliner.







Important: Using a suitable tool, gently pry the front of the rear dome lamp assembly (1) and pivot the rear dome lamp assembly (1) down and pull forward to clear the rear locking arms (3) from the headliner assembly.


2. Remove the rear dome lamp assembly (1) from the headliner assembly.
3. Disconnect the dome lamp assembly electrical connector (2).
4. Remove the rear dome lamp assembly (1) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure - Rear





1. Connect the dome lamp assembly electrical connector (2).

Important: Position the dome lamp assembly rear locking arms (3) into the headliner and pivot the front of the lamp assembly (1) up and into the headliner assembly.


2. Install the rear dome lamp assembly (1) to the headliner assembly.
3. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
