Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the oil fill cap.
Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution (Safety Glasses Warning) .
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution (Service Precautions) .
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .




3. Remove the oil pan drain plug (1).
4. Drain the engine oil into an appropriate container.
5. Remove the engine oil filter (2).



Installation Procedure






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .


Important: Before installing the new oil filter, ensure that the old oil filter gasket has been removed. If not, remove the old gasket.


1. Install the oil filter (2).

Tighten the filter to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

2. Install the oil pan drain plug (1).

Tighten the plug to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Fill the engine with a suitable amount and type of engine oil. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities (Capacity Specifications) and Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations ([1][2]Fluid Type Specifications) .
5. Check the oil level.
6. Install the oil fill cap.
7. Reset the service reminder display. Refer to Service Display Reminders (Service and Repair) .
