The tape player can have poor sound reproduction if the tape is old and worn or if the playback head assembly is dirty .

Circuit/System Testing
1. Use the J 39916-A J-39916- A CD and Cassette Diagnostic Audio Kit in order to clean the cassette player.
2. Use the J 39916-A J-39916- A CD and Cassette Diagnostic Audio Kit and perform the motor speed test.
• If the cassette motor speed is not correct, replace the radio?
3. Play a known good audio casette. If the playback is poor, attempt to clean the player again.
• If the playback quality can not be restored, replace the radio.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
