Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the oil fill cap.
Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the oil pan drain plug (1).
4. Drain the engine oil into an appropriate container.
5. Remove the engine oil filter (2).
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
Note: Before installing the new oil filter, ensure that the old oil filter gasket has been removed. If not, remove the old gasket.
1. Install the oil filter (2) and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
2. Install the oil pan drain plug (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Fill the engine with a suitable amount and type of engine oil. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities and Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations (Service Intervals).
5. Check the oil level.
6. Install the oil fill cap.
7. Reset the service reminder display. Refer to Service Display Reminders ().
