Clutch Linkage: Adjustments
Checking Clutch Play
NOTE: The clutch play cannot be checked at the clutch pedal because of the automatic hydraulic clutch adjustment on the release lever. Consequently the clutch play must be checked on the positioning lever, which fits on the spline of the release shaft.
- Check whether clutch cable is tight (then the release lever will just be lifted off of the console stop in engaged state).
- If cable is tight enough, check clutch play with a feeler gage blade and, if necessary, correct to 1.0 + 0.1 mm with the adjusting screw.
NOTE: Make basic adjustment if cable is loose (after settling).
Basic Adjustment
- Disconnect clutch cable or loosen fully on holder.
- Adjust clutch play to 1.2 mm with a feeler gage blade and lock adjusting screw.
- Connect clutch cable.
- Tighten clutch cable until clutch play is 1.0 mm.
NOTE: If clutch cable holder does not provide sufficient travel for adjustment, also adjust clutch cable at front on pivot of pedal.
Checking Release Travel
- Release travel of the release lever is limited by an adjustable stop on floor plate of the pedal assembly.
^ Specification: 25 ± 0.5 mm.
- Apply sliding calipers as shown in figure and read distance I (e. g. 95.3 mm).
- Declutch and measure distance II (e. g. 69.9 mm) with a sliding calipers as shown in figure.
- Release travel results from distance I minus distance II (in example: 95.3 minus 69.9 = 25.4 mm).
- Adjust stop on floor plate accordingly if travel is not within tolerances.
