P0506
Idle Control System RPM - Lower Than Expected
Idle Air Control - Engine speed too low

P0507
Idle Control System RPM - Higher Than Expected
Idle Air Control - Engine speed too high

Function
The Idle Air Control (IAC) permits a stable and low idle rpm. The Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve opens a bypass to the throttle valve. The amount of the opening depends on the operation of the IAC Valve. As the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor senses this additional air, the injection volume changes. The Engine Control Module (ECM) makes comparisons with the specified values of the engine speed and adjusts accordingly.

Diagnostic conditions
- Engine start-up completed
- Vehicle speed = 0 km/h
- Throttle valve at Closed Throttle Position
- Engine temperature higher than 60°C.

A fault is recognized and recorded in memory when the engine speed is higher or lower by 60 1/min.

Diagnostic procedure.

P0507.

Check IAC Valve.
1. Connect system tester.
2. Switch to menu point "Drive Links" and activate.
3. A distinct clicking noise must be heard.

Check intake air system for leaks.
1. Remove intercooler and intake air cleaner unit.
2. Remove Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor.
3. Remove protective grille on right side.

4. Install sealing cover 9264/1 with bolts M 4 x 40 to MAF Sensor..

NOTE: Before completely tightening the sealing cover, position the plate carefully. There must be no light gap visible.

5. At right rear wheel well, remove the front half of the wheel well liner. Close the modulated hose of the oil reservoir pressure valve with an appropriate plug.
6. Create pressure of approximately 0.5 bar. With pressure applied you can hear major leaks easily. Check for smaller leaks with a leak spray.

NOTE: Leak check involves the entire intake air system including the intercooler and the oil reservoir.
