Check wiring from ECM to instrument cluster for continuity.
1. Remove ECM connector.
2. Remove X 4/2 connector.
3. Connect ohmmeter to ECM connector, pin 8 and to connector X 4/2 on pin side, pin 8.

- Specified value: 0 - 5 ohms
- If meter reads infinite resistance
- Check wiring harness for chafing or pinching damage.

4. Remove connector II at instrument cluster.
5. Connect ohmmeter to X 4/2 cavity side and connector II of instrument cluster, pin 6.

- Specified value: 0 - 5 ohms
- If reader reads infinite resistance, check wiring harness for chafing or pinching damage.

Check wiring from ECM to instrument cluster for short circuit to ground.
1. Remove ECM connector.
2. Remove connector II for instrument cluster.
3. Connect ohmmeter to ECM connector, pin 8 and ground.

- Specified value: infinite resistance
- If reader reads 0 - 5 ohms, check wiring harness for chafing or pinching damage.

Check wiring from ECM to instrument cluster for short circuit to B+.
1. Remove ECM connector.
2. Remove connector II at instrument cluster.
3. Switch ignition on.
4. Connect voltmeter to ECM connector, pin 8 and ground.

- Specified value: 0 Volt
- If meter reads battery voltage, check wiring harness for chafing or pinching damage.
