Function:
When the engine is started and the reference mark has been recognized, the control module adapts the camshaft signal with respect to the reference mark, i,e. the software compensates for deviations from a fixed value by angle shifts. The state "Timing chain out of position" is recognized if these adaptation values reach their limits.

Diagnostic Conditions:
- Engine started.
- Reference mark detected.
- Engine speed < 1200 rpm.
- Engine temperature > 60°C.
- No fault in camshaft position sensors.
- Reference mark OK.
- No fault in camshaft adjustment.

NOTE: The fault can be stored only if the engine was disassembled and the allocation of the outlet camshaft with respect to the inlet camshaft was incorrectly set.
