Starter Motor: Service and Repair



Removing And Installing Starter







Removing the starter

WARNING:
The battery must be properly disconnected before the electrical wires are detached on the starter.
- Disconnect battery.
- Remove engine guard.

1. Open the press-studs -arrows- and remove the heat insulation cover on the solenoid switch.







2. Pull off protective cap-arrow A-.







3. Unscrew fastening nut -1- and remove the lead from the threaded pin -arrow B-.
4. Unscrew fastening nut -2- and remove the lead from the threaded pin -arrow C-.
5. Undo fastening screw -3- and pull line holder away in a downward direction -arrow A-.







6. Unscrew fastening screw -4-.
7. Unscrew fastening nuts -5- and remove holder -arrow B-. To do this, turn the holder slightly.
8. Unscrew fastening screw -6- on the transmission side of the starter.







9. Unscrew fastening screw -7-.







10. Unscrew bottom fastening screw -8- of the starter.
11. Pull the lead carefully downwards -arrow A- and remove the starter -arrow B-.Rotate the starter if necessary.

Installing the starter

NOTE: Before installing the starter, check the smooth operation of the thread for securing the starter. Threads that do not open/close smoothly must be repaired before installing the starter.

1. Pull the lead carefully downwards -arrow A- and insert the starter -arrow B-.Rotate the starter if necessary -arrows C-.







2. Lift the starter forwards and screw in fastening screw -8- but do not tighten it.
3. Screw in fastening screw-6-on the transmission side and tighten the two fastening screws on the starter.







4. Insert the holder -arrow A- and screw in the fastening nuts -5-, but do not tighten them.







5. Screw in and tighten fastening screw -4-. Then tighten the fastening nuts -5-.
6. Position protective tube in installation position -arrow B- and secure with fastening screw -3-.
7. Attach the lead to the threaded pin -arrow A- and secure with the fastening nut-2-.







8. Connect the lead to the B+ connection -arrow B and secure with the fastening nut -1-.
9. Place protective cap on the B+ connection -arrow C-.
10. Put heat insulation cover around solenoid switch -arrow A- and fasten with the press -studs -B-.







11. Secure the lead with the fastening screw -7-.
