Spare wheel release button

NOTE: This fault was detected by the 'rear convenience system' control unit

Diagnostic conditions
- Ignition on
- Battery voltage OK (11.4 to 14.5 V)
- Internal rear convenience system control unit function test
- Press spare wheel release button

Possible causes of fault
- Short circuit to ground, implausible signal
- Spare wheel release button faulty
- Control unit faulty

Affected pins
Rear convenience system control unit: Plug A
- Pin 12 'rear lid momentary-switch handle'

Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
Visual inspection: In the next troubleshooting section, please check first that the affected pins on the rear convenience system control unit plug connection are neither damaged nor corroded. The wiring and plugs of the affected components must also be checked for external damage and proper contact Repair damaged or corroded pins it possible, otherwise replace affected pins. Repair or replace damaged wires.

NOTE:

NOTE: The rear convenience system control unit does not switch off the output This is protected by fuse F31 (15 A) in fuse carrier at right of dashboard.

NOTE: In the wiring harness is a cable set for the spare wheel with a 10-pin plug connector as well as a further 2-pin plug connector for the spare wheel release button that must be included in the checks.
