P0117Engine Temperature Sensor - Below Limit
Diagnosis conditions
- Ignition on
Possible fault cause
- Engine temperature sensor faulty
- Short circuit to B+ in signal wire
- Open circuit in sensor ground
- Open circuit in signal wire
- DME control module faulty
NOTE: This fault is stored if the engine temperature is detected at under -40 °C.
NOTE: If connector A is disconnected from the DME control module and the ignition is or was switched on, the 'DME Control Module TIMEOUT' fault is recorded in many control modules.
NOTE: If control module connector A was disconnected from the DME in the course of troubleshooting or if the voltage supply was interrupted elsewhere (battery, fuse), the throttle adjusting unit must be adapted'.
Affected terminals
DME control module connector B, pin 93, and engine temperature sensor, pin 1
DME control module connector B, pin 108, and engine temperature sensor, pin 2 (sensor ground)
