Oil temperature sensor - open circuit

Diagnostic conditions
- Battery positive voltage between 10 V and 16 V
- Engine running
- Oil temperature between -50 °C and 170 °C

Possible cause of fault
- Open circuit in voltage supply
- Open circuit in signal wire to instrument cluster
- Fuse F11 (radiator tank E-box) faulty
- Oil temperature sensor faulty
- Instrument cluster faulty

Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
- Fault P0199 is entered in the DME control module through the instrument cluster via the 'CAN drive'.
- The oil temperature sensor and the oil level sensor are combined in one component.
- Read out fault memory in instrument cluster and work through it in accordance with the work instructions in the Technical Manual, Diagnosis, Instrument Cluster.
