Thermostat Blocked - Implausible

Diagnosis conditions
- Engine running
- Engine starting temperature between -10 °C and 40 °C
- Ambient temperature between -10 °C and 40 °C
- No fault in vehicle speed
- Engine temperature increase after start to over 60 °C, calculated via air mass throughput

Possible fault cause
- Thermostat blocked open
- Faulty engine temperature sensor

NOTE:
- The fault is stored if the engine is not heated from below 40 °C to over 60 °C after throughput of a defined air mass. This indicates that the thermostat is blocked open.
- An unchanged temperature signal may also come from a faulty sensor. Check fault memory entry.

NOTE: It is best to check the fault on a performance test stand.

DANGER: Danger due to heavy power train - Damage cause by using unsuitable test stands. Use suitable all-wheel performance test stand exclusively (e.g. MAHA LPS 2000).

Affected terminals
DME control module connector B, pin 93, and engine temperature sensor, pin 1
DME control module connector B, pin 108, and engine temperature sensor, pin 2 (sensor ground)
