Removing and installing steering wheel

Caution! Observe safety regulations for handling airbag modules!

Removing
1. Disconnect battery.





2. Remove steering wheel airbag unit.
3. Turn wheels to straight-ahead position. Before removing steering wheel, put a mark on steering wheel and steering column (e.g. colour marking) (centring of airbag spiral spring).
4. Remove steering wheel by releasing multiple-tooth screw.

Installing
Installation of steering wheel takes place in reverse order.

Note!
^ The steering wheel consists of a magnesium alloy! The tightening torques must be observed!
^ Wheels straight ahead and observe previously-applied marking!
^ Airbag unit must lock with an audible click! Check by pulling at airbag unit! Always replace multiple-tooth screw!
^ Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) ± 6 Nm (4.5 ft. lbs.)
