Technical values
Preliminary work
1. Place protective covers on vehicle and in interior compartment.
2. Move seats all the way forward.
3. Remove rear wall cover.

4. Remove engine compartment lid.

WARNING
Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
-> Let the fluid cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.
5. Drain coolant. Open cap on coolant reservoir.

6. Remove underbody panels at rear and centre.

7. Remove two coolant hoses (supply and return line).
7.1. Unclip spring clamps and pull Henn couplings out of the coolant pipes.
7.2. Open one spring band clamp and pull off hose at thermostat housing.
WARNING
Objects or loads falling down
- Risk of squashing or crushing
-> Secure components to prevent them from falling down.
Information
- It may only be supported over a large area at the oil pan.
- Localised loading is not permitted.
8. Support engine using transmission and unit jack Junior Jack 2.0 WE 1223 and GA passenger car transmission plate WE 1224 at the oil pan.
9. Remove engine carrier.

Removing coolant distributor housing
Component overview:
Overview of coolant distributor housing
1. Place a container under the vehicle to collect any emerging coolant.
2. Pull off cable plug -1- on the temperature sensor.

3. Unscrew three internal Torx screws (M6 x 20).
3.1. On Tiptronic vehicles a belt guard is also installed. This must be removed.
4. Unscrew five external Torx screws (M6 x 35).
4.1. Guide distributor housing down and out.
5. Clean sealing surfaces.
Installing coolant distributor housing
Information
- Grease O-rings, hoses and lines in the cooling system with Kluberplus Gel (Part No. 000.043.205.93).
1. Insert new seals on distributor housing and lightly grease.
2. Fit distributor housing. Ensure that the seals are seated correctly.
2.1. Fit five external Torx screws (M6 x 35).
2.2. Fit three internal Torx screws (M6 x 20).
On Tiptronic vehicles a belt guard is also installed. This must be reinstalled.
2.3. Fit and tighten screws uniformly.
=> Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
3. Connect temperature sensor cable plug.
Subsequent work
WARNING
Objects or loads falling down
- Risk of squashing or crushing
-> Secure components to prevent them from falling down.
1. Install engine carrier.

2. Move transmission support out of the work area.
Information
- Grease O-rings, hoses and lines in the cooling system with Kluberplus Gel (Part No. 000.043.205.93).
3. Install two coolant hoses (supply and return line).
3.1. Coat O-rings with Kluberplus gel.
3.2. Clip in spring clamps.
3.3. Fit Henn couplings to the coolant pipes (listen for audible click) and check they are seated securely.
3.4. Fit hose onto thermostat housing, close spring band clamp.
4. Fill in coolant and bleed the system.

5. Start the engine and inspect the coolant connections for leaks.
6. Install underbody panels at the rear and centre.

7. Install engine compartment lid.

8. Install rear wall cover.

9. Move seats into initial position.
10. Remove protective covers.
