Intake Air Duct: Service and Repair


WM 243519 Removing and installing air box for throttle housing on DFI engines (intake pipes upstream of throttle valve)

Preliminary work

1. Remove engine compartment cover at the front and on both sides. => 700219 Removing and installing front trim (engine compartment) - section on "Removing"
2. Pull off throttle cover. => 108319 Removing and installing engine cover (design cover) on DFI engines - section on "Removing"

Information

The Y-pipe -1- on the GTS is secured to the throttle housing with a screw-type clamp -2-. => Y-pipe on GTS

1. Release the fastening bolts on the throttle housing. To do this, feel for the bottom hook by hand and twist the upper hexagon until the bottom hook is free to move. -arrow-

2. Press fastening bolts upwards when the hook is free to move and pull out using pointed-nose pliers or by hand. => Fastening bolts

3. Remove fastening bolts on both air-cleaner housings.
3.1. Turn fastening bolts from the initial mark to the removal mark. -arrows-

3.2. Pull out fastening bolts with pointed-nose pliers. -arrow-

4. Pull intake pipe out of the air-cleaner housing with a joggling motion.
5. Disconnect cable plug for the mass air flow sensor. => Cable plug for mass air flow sensor

6. Pull off Y-pipe (air box) from the throttle housing with a joggling motion. -arrow-

7. Carefully lift entire intake pipe and pull off both cables for the mass air flow sensor on the intake pipe in the vicinity of the air-cleaner housing underneath the intake pipes. -arrow-

8. Remove intake pipe.

Information

The Y-pipe -1- on the GTS is secured to the throttle housing with a screw-type clamp -2-. => Y-pipe on GTS

1. Move entire intake pipe into the installation position, carefully lift and insert both cables for the mass air flow sensor on the intake pipe in the vicinity of the air-cleaner housing underneath the intake pipes. => Cable on intake pipe

2. Push Y-pipe (air box) onto the throttle housing with a joggling motion. -arrow-

3. Press intake pipes into the air-cleaner housing.
4. Connect cable plug for mass air flow sensor. => Cable plug for mass air flow sensor

5. Fit fastening bolts into both air-cleaner housings.
5.1. Insert fastening bolts. -arrow-

5.2. Turn fastening bolts from the removal mark to the initial mark. -arrows-

6. Insert fastening bolts of Y-pipe for the throttle housing. => Fastening bolts

7. Lock the fastening bolts on the throttle housing. To do this, feel for the bottom hook by hand and twist the upper hexagon until the bottom hook is locked. -arrow-

Subsequent work

1. Press on throttle cover.=> 108319 Removing and installing engine cover (design cover) on DFI engines - section on "Installing"
2. Fit engine compartment cover.=> 700219 Removing and installing front trim (engine compartment) - section on "Installing"
