Radial shaft seal
1. Use the drift punch, 1-mm tip NR.167 to beat a small hole at a non-rubberised spot (rectangular window in the ring) on the sealing ring. => Drift punch

2. Screw in the extractor tip. Use the slide hammer kit NR.168 to knock out the extractor tip together with the sealing ring. Alternatively, you can screw in a suitable tapping screw and pull out the sealing ring using a pliers. => Knocking out sealing ring

3. Clean the crankshaft flange. The crankshaft flange must not be dirty or rusty. If necessary, clean it with brake cleaner and sand off any rust with a metal-polishing pad (e.g. Never Dull). => Cleaning the crankshaft flange

Installing sealing ring for crankshaft (transmission side)
CAUTION
Damage to the sealing ring.
-> The sealing ring is provided on a sleeve.
-> Never remove the sealing ring from the sleeve.
-> Never deform or touch the sealing lips.
-> Never oil the sealing lips.

1. Connect the sealing ring and sleeve to the tool spacer 9609/2. => Pushing on sealing ring

2. Position the centering device spacer 9609/2 on the crankshaft flange. Pay attention to the centering pin when doing this. Then tighten the two fastening screws to 23 Nm (17 ftlb.). => Centering tool

3. Position the retracting bell pressure piece 9609/1 and tighten the central screw (a/f 19) to 25 Nm (19 ftlb.). => Retracting bell

4. Loosen the retracting bell and screw it down.
5. Loosen the two fastening screws on the centering device and remove the tool.
